Mr. Pell's Notes
Happy 45th or as our class tells us,"Happy XLV!" Our class can look back at many accomplishments. We are
comparing and contrasting different genres of writing. We reviewed telling and action parts of a sentence. In Math we have seen patterns and used them to solve problems. Frames and Arrows,Function Machines and Number Grids are being used to help children skip count, add and subtract. Students have mastered most of their addition and subtraction facts.
November sees us beginning many new paths. With the use of graphic organizers we will begin writing paragraphs. Look for paragraphs with interesting, main idea first sentences. Also in our paragraphs will be supporting details sentences. In Math we will use the game Beat the Calculator to show that we have mastered all the addition and subtraction facts. Students will be able to write number stories, make change from a dollar, and explore three dimensional shapes, area and perimeter! In Science we will be looking at Changes and the properties of States of Matter-Solids,Liquids and Gases. In Social Studies we will continue our map studies. Also our research partners will share their Native American research with the rest of the class.
